Freudenberg Evolon will be marking its premier appearance at FESPA 2007 with the introduction of Evolon, a new media designed for indoor and outdoor printing applications The material is claimed to be suitable for signs, advertising banners, graphics and other decorative items

Evolon will be present at FESPA 2007 in hall 25 on stand J140, where it will feature Evolon's matt artistic look, which is said to ensure customer satisfaction by providing outstanding printed results, sharp pictures and deep colours.

The media is also said to provide new benefits above other available substrates, by offering the ability of dual-sided printing and the compatibility with an array of different digital printing technologies and inks.

Supplied in weights from 100gsm up to 180gsm, Evolon can be printed in widths of up to 1.6m and 2m in direct printing and transfer printing, respectively.

It can be sewn or converted, like other traditional textiles without the requirement of a specific machine, it is claimed.

The media is also said to be fully compliant to industry agreements for flame retardancy - NFPA 701 in the USA, CA1237 for California, M1 in France (continuing) and DIN 4102 B1 in Germany.

In addition to inkjet printing using water-based, solvent, eco-solvent and UV-cured inks, Evolon is said to ensure high performance in transfer and direct sublimation applications.

Evolon is also offered in a flame-retardant variant, which in conjunction with its wrinkle-free properties, provides key benefits in indoor wide format poster and hanging banner applications, said Freudenberg.

Additionally, in another variant, Evolon's micro-filament structure is said to offer efficient sound absorption, making it suitable for trade fairs, restaurants or other environments where noise reduction is often a requirement.

Evolon's strength, weather-resistance and UV-durability make it suitablet for use in outdoor signage and banner applications, whilst further attributes are provided via a structure four times lighter than that of traditional outdoor banner materials, claimed Freudenberg.

The textile-feel and breathability of Evolon also provides advantages in niche applications, such as racing numbers in athletics.

Commenting on the introduction of Evolon, Jean Ullmann, market manager for printing media Europe at Freudenberg Evolon, said: "Evolon represents the next generation of digital printing media and offers new and wide-ranging attributes in a plethora of applications.

Although strong and durable, Evolon maintains the all-important textile-like feel.

This unique combination, together with the ability to achieve fantastic printed results, sets it apart from existing products.

We are naturally excited to be introducing Evolon to the digital printing sector at FESPA, where we are certain it will raise eyebrows.".
