Non-PVC substrate heightens visual impact
Evolon, the non-PVC printing substrate from Freudenberg Evolon, has been chosen to maximise the visual impact of the four-day 'Textiles: Material for the Future' exhibition at the European Parliament.
Freudenberg Evolon said that Evolon was used to demonstrate innovation and environmentally-friendliness in the area of digital printing on to textile substrates.
With a scene construction built by design company Carlin, the exhibition guided Parliament members from a meeting room to the institution's hemicycle debating chamber.
The 60 square metre Evolon graphic comprised individual panels measuring up to 2.5m high x 2m wide, which were linked together to form various angles to maximise visual appeal.
Claimed to be optimised for digital printing, the flame-retardant certified Evolon was printed by French wide-format textile digital printer, Creajet.
The team at Creajet printed the Evolon panels at 2m wide and used sublimation inks to produce vibrant colours and sharp pictures.
According to Freudenberg Evolon thanks to its non-fraying edges and the ability to be hung or attached with plain double-sided tape, Evolon eliminates the need for stapling, which made it easy for the stand contractors to work with.
As a result, joins were neat, wrinkle-free and clean.
The company added that because of its high mechanical strength and ease of handling, Evolon printing media is easily transportable and re-usable.
The organisers of 'Textiles: Material for the Future' expect to display the exhibition stand at other events in the future.
Designed for a variety of printing applications that include signs, graphics and other digital printing projects, Evolon is claimed to offer printers impeccably printed results, versatility and an improved eco-profile.
It is also said to be compatible with an array of different digital printing technologies and inks.
Freudenberg Evolon added that Evolon also provides new benefits above some other available substrates.
In addition to inkjet printing using water-based, solvent, eco-solvent and UV-cured inks, Evolon is claimed to ensure performance in transfer and direct sublimation applications.
Evolon is supplied in weights from 100gsm up to 180gsm and can be printed in widths of up to two metres.
It can be sewn or converted like other traditional textiles without the requirement of a specific machine, added the company.
