Fujifilm has received the Excellent Environmental Communication Award from The Global Environmental Forum for its Sustainability Report 2004 The report provides the public with information on Fujifilm's environmental activities

The Global Environmental Forum (GEF) of Japan, is a non-profit organisation whose objective is to pursue global environmental issues, such as global warming and tropical forest protection.

The Forum established the awards in 1997 to encourage corporations to disclose environmental information and improve communication with the public.

Fujifilm began issuing yearly sustainability reports in 2000, reflecting the growing importance of sharing information on environmental efforts and the status of environmental work with stakeholders.

In the fifth report issued for the fiscal year 2004, Fujifilm included information on corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, in addition to environmental and social efforts, which was particularly noted by the Forum.

Chris Pearce, Fujifilm's environmental manager, said: "We have worked hard to implement our environmental policy so that every member of the Fujifilm Group across the world recognises our goal of developing as a company while minimising environmental impact.

This reflects the commitment to environmental issues and conservation as the basis of management policy that we have held since the company was founded." He added that under the policy, the company had been aggressively investing in measures to prevent global warming, such as converting the fuel used for in-house power generation at our manufacturing plants to natural gas.".
