Fujifilm Graphic Systems has signed a long-term CTP plate agreement with Trinity Mirror to supply 100 per cent of its CTP printing plate requirements.

Fujifilm Graphic Systems has signed a long-term CTP plate agreement with Trinity Mirror to supply 100 per cent of its CTP printing plate requirements.

The contract covers national and regional newspapers titles at all print sites within the Trinity Mirror Group.

Fujifilm said that it is the largest contract in the UK and is expected to grow as Trinity Mirror increases its colour capacity in line with UK market demand.

Currently, several Trinity Mirror sites are using Fujifilm's latest CTP plate, the Brillia LP-NNV violet photopolymer plate, developed specifically for the newspaper market, whilst others are continuing to use Fuji's Green Yag Brillia LPNN-2 plate.

As Trinity Mirror's existing engines are changed, or upgraded to violet compatibility, all sites will migrate to the latest violet sensitive plate.

Rupert Middleton, group director of manufacturing at Trinity Mirror, said: "The decision to sign the deal with Fujifilm has come about after extensive discussions with senior managers at sites around the UK about the past performance and consistency of the Fujifilm products.

All had responded that they were happy with reliability and the service they had received from day one.

We are very happy to have Fujifilm as a partner as we move forward, particularly as the company is continually investing in new technology.".
