Fujifilm Graphic Systems has held the first European demonstration of its recently announced Brillia PRO-T processless thermal computer-to-plate (CTP) plate.

Fujifilm Graphic Systems has announced that it has successfully held the first European demonstration of its recently announced Brillia Pro-T Processless thermal computer-to-plate (CTP) plate at Komori's Workshop 05 event on 19 and 20 October 2005 Held at the press manufacturer's Leeds (UK) showroom, the Brillia Pro-T demonstrations were viewed by more than 200 attendees and generated an extremely positive reaction

'The event has exceeded our expectations, both in attendance and enthusiasm,' commented technical support manager - plates, Fujifilm Graphic Systems, Sean Lane.

'Getting rid of the processor is clearly an increasing concern for CTP users, whether to save time and space, to reduce costs or to take advantage of the environmental benefits.

'One customer had calculated that processor cleaning and maintenance alone was costing £8000 a year'.

Fujifilm's Brillia Pro-T thermal processless plates were being output on a Screen PlateRite 8800 platesetter and printed on a Komori Lithrone 28 sheetfed press, and demonstrated how Fuji's new thermal processless plates can be imaged as fast as conventional Processed CTP plates.

Pulling the first few press sheets showed how Fuji's develop-on-press technology removes non-imaged emulsion from the plate within the first five sheets - well within the normal run-up to colour for the press.

Steve Cookman, product support manager, Fujifilm Graphic Systems, added: 'Attendees who had read about Fuji's processless plates in the trade press were visibly impressed by the demonstration.

'The good image contrast allowed us to clearly verify the job data.

'We then moved to the Lithrone 28 that had been running Fuji's thermal Brillia LH-PIE CTP plate.

'We started the Pro-T job without any adjustment ' make ready was over in a minute'.

Fuji Brillia Pro-T thermal processless plates were announced in September and will be commercially available in Q1 2006.

Fuji's violet chemistry-free plate, Brillia Pro-V, announced at the same time, will be available in early 2007.
