The Fujifilm building affected by the Buncefield oil terminal explosion in the UK is the research and development facility of Fujifilm Electronic Imaging (UK).

The organisation is a design and manufacturing company of pre-press equipment and systems.

As a result of the explosion, Fujifilm personnel are not being allowed access to the building in Hemel Hempstead at present, so the company said that it cannot comment on the extent of the damage its facilities might have sustained.

However, The company did confirm that there were no serious injuries or fatalities as a result of the explosion.

Temporarily, key functions, such as customer support, have been transferred to a local sister plant, as part of Fujifilm's disaster recovery plan, and are fully operational.

As a second stage of the plan, temporary accommodation is being sought for other personnel.

Fujifilm said that it has comprehensive disaster recovery plans and a UK operation large enough to allow it to anticipate being back to normal fairly swiftly.
