Fujifilm Graphic Systems has secured an order from Ashford (UK) magazine and journal printer Headley Brothers for Fuji's Brillia LH-PIE thermal CTP plates and Fuji Open Workflow Headleys was impressed by the environmental benefits offered by Fuji's products said Fujifilm

After assessing a wide range of plates Headleys decided that Fuji's Brillia LH-PIE thermal CTP plate proved the best option, because the plates require less laser power to expose correctly, do not need baking and allowed Headleys to achieve run lengths of 150,000 impressions.

Jim Duggan, pre-press manager at Headleys, said: "As well as the plates, we were really impressed by the quality of the Fuji processors.

They're more reliable, cleaner and easier to maintain.

We're also using around one third less chemistry than before." Duggan added that he has been pleased with the support from Fuji as well: "The service is brilliant.

Our plates arrive on time without me having to do anything.

Compared to my experience in other parts of the industry, where there's typically lots of sales attention but not so much after-sales, this is quite a departure." Headleys has over 200 publishing clients, for whom it prints consumer and trade magazines and journals.

Fuji's positive working Brillia LH-PIE thermal CTP plate is said to be the first thermal plate to work with UV inks on medium print runs without the need for baking.

Its efficiency, tone reproduction and process life all benefit from Fuji's multigrain technology, added the company.
