Fujifilm Graphic Systems is now supplying its Brillia LP-NV violet plates to the Munster Express in Waterford (Ireland).

The 140 year-old Munster Express, which is the only newspaper printer in that area of Ireland, has invested in Fujifilm's violet plates to increase productivity and improve colour registration.

The plates are running on a recently installed ECRM machine and are being used to print editions of the Munster Express, which is a 64-page broadsheet with four sections.

The newspaper is printed two thirds in colour and a third in mono.

Kieran Walsh, managing director at the Munster Express, said: "The Fuji plates are part of a larger investment in international equipment and expertise that will mean the Munster Express can continue to offer improved services to our advertisers and readers." Brillia LP-NV plates are claimed to offer users run lengths of up to 200,000 impressions and one million impressions when baked.

The plate is claimed to provide a sharp and precise dot formation and resists pressroom chemicals.
