Fujifilm has opened its second production line for digital offset plates in Tilburg (The Netherlands).

Fujifilm has opened its second production line for digital offset plates in Tilburg (The Netherlands).

An investment of EUR40 million in the new plate line strengthens Fujifilm's CTP plate production capabilities within the European market and is in-line with Fujifilm's strategy of investing in research and development and manufacturing facilities to drive future growth, said the company.

Fujifilm has been producing offset plates in Tilburg since 1991.

In 2002, the company upgraded the existing line to expand the number of plate products produced at the plant.

Construction of the second line, adjacent to the existing line, started in July 2005 and will accelerate the transfer of Fujifilm plate products manufactured in Japan to Europe, whilst also expanding the capacity to meet the increasing demand for Fujifilm's CTP consumables.

Shigehiro Nakajima, president of Fuji Photo Film BV, saidL "With the opening of our new plate line, we will increase the overall flexibility of supply of Fujifilm plates to our European customers.

This investment helps to ensure the availability of Fujifilm's superior quality products manufactured in Europe for Europe.".
