Processless Plate System Cuts Make-Ready
Times
A new processless system has cut platemaking and press make-ready times for Dublin firm Impress Printing Works.
The company installed Fuji's Brillia HD Pro-T plate and Screen's Platerite 4300S systems via Fuji dealer, Lithjo Supplies Fuji's Brillia HD Pro-T is said to be a true processless plate and needs no chemistry or gumming whilst being capable of being imaged using the same power as Fuji's existing thermal processed plate at 120mJ/cm2

Processless CTP Plate Accelerates Repro Production
Fujifilm's Brillia HD Pro-T plate for processless CTP is being used by Hertfordshire (UK) B1 printer, Inc, is making the company's repro department more efficient by accelerating performance.
That is also claimed to result in the same production speeds.
The company added that the Brillia HF Pro-T is compatible with most thermal (830nm) plate setters and approved for one per cent - 99 per cent at 200 lines epr inch (lpi) conventional, 300lpi hybrid and FM screening.
The plate is a non-ablative product that carries a latent image with contrast allowing visual inspection after imaging.
Pat Cotter, sales director of Impress, said: "We firmly believe that to keep pace with industry changes, technology updates are imperative.
An important step to help achieve this was to install the latest processless platemaking system.
We decided on Fuji's Pro-T as it is the most reliable and allows us to be processless in our platemaking department while being kinder to the environment." He added: "We have reduced platemaking times, thanks to the increased productivity and have saved further press make-ready time with the automatic plate punch and register.
We also have seen no impact on drying times, run length, clean-up on press or print finishing as compared to using conventional plates." Fuji dealer Litho Supplies was responsible for the installation and Richard Styles, the company's sales director, commented: "The introduction of the Fuji Pro-T plates has had many benefits for Impress Printing, namely the costs savings associated with removing the processor and the increase in available workspace." Founded in 1990, Impress offers a complete in-house service from receipt of the digital file to the production of the finished product, including fulfilment and delivers to all parts of Ireland and mainland Europe.
Impress Printing Works employs 22 staff, operates a double-day shift and runs Komori and Heidelberg B2 and B3 five-colour presses and the latest Indigo digital press.
The company's customers include government bodies, designers, advertising agencies, banks and insurance companies.
