Ranging from short-run brochures and booklets, through to transactional invoices and bills, the newly-launched Xerox 4590 and 4110 printing systems open-up new production printing opportunities.

Ranging from short-run brochures and booklets, through to transactional invoices and bills, the newly-launched Xerox 4590 and 4110 printing systems open-up new production printing opportunities.

The ability to print both types of documents on the same device offers a cost-effective, productive business model for print providers looking for a competitive edge, according to Xerox.

The latest additions to Fuji Xerox Australia's mono light production family are designed for large enterprises, service bureaux, data centres, in-plant printing environments and commercial and quickprint shops.

The systems, available at 90 pages per minute (PPM) and at 110ppm, rate among the fastest in the light production class, said the company.

Chris Aked, production printing systems marketing manager in Fuji Xerox Australia's Production Services Business Group, said: "The FX4590 and FX4110 printing systems build on the success of the Document Centre 1100 and 900, whose excellent image quality and outstanding workflow efficiencies have been very well received by Australian print providers with over 550 units purchased in less than two years." Printing commentator, Jim Hamilton, director at Infotrends' On Demand Printing and Publishing Consulting Service offered advice for those considering investing in the latest Xerox equipment.

He said: "As entry-level printing systems with a full-featured DocuSP front-end system, the Xerox 4590 and 4110 printing systems are a good fit for environments with a range of transactional and graphic arts applications." Enabled by the Xerox Freeflow DocuSP print controller, the systems accept data in industry-standard formats such as PostScript and PDF for printing traditional publishing documents - VIPP and PPML for personalised documents and IPDS and LCDS for transactional jobs, said the company.

Maria Nordstrom, general manager of Fuji Xerox Australia's Production Services Business Group, commented: "Print providers must be able to reliably fulfil the needs of clients under pressure to meet critical deadlines.

These particular Xerox printing systems respond to the demands for printed documents - whether it's hundreds of statements or a handful of booklets with colour covers - whenever and wherever they are needed." The FX4590 and FX4110 printing systems are also claimed to allow multiple jobs to be received, processed and printed without a lag in productivity.

They are said to print on a range of paper sizes and weights from 140mm x 182 mm to 330gsm x 488gsm.

Consequently, the systems can handle a variety of uncoated stocks and speciality media, such as tabs, transparencies and carbonless paper for use in multi-part forms.

The printers are claimed to hold up to 8,225 sheets of paper so print providers can produce job continuously whilst leaving the systems unattended.

A post-process inserter lets print providers take advantage of the impact of colour by inserting colour covers or pages in to mono documents.

Other in-line options, such as different stapling configurations, hole-punching, saddle-stitching and envelope-ready folding, allow print providers to quickly deliver high-quality, finished documents, added the company.

The systems are also claimed to provide 2,400 dots per inch (dpi) resolution resulting in text, graphics and pictures printed in fine detail.

Fuji Xerox Australia said that orders for the FX 4590/4110 printing systems can be placed immediately with the company's direct sales force in the country.
