Digital Printer Cuts Job Costs, Adds New Markets
Fuji Xerox Australia has extended its print-on-demand market presence with its new Xerox Docutech 6180 Powerplus.
The latest version can handle more complex workflows and has a printing speed of 144 pages per minute (ppm) - a 20 per cent increase over the closest Xerox Nuvera model, according to Fuji Xerox Australia.
With the speed, image quality and ability to handle complex, graphics-intensive jobs, the Xerox Nuvera 144 has been designed to produce a range of documents from direct-mail pieces and booklets, to invoices in commercial and security printing, data centres and service bureaux, as well as in-house print rooms and quick print shops.
Fuji Xerox Australia said the new and improved Nuvera 144 is also available as a magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) version, accredited by Australian Payments Clearing Association (APCA) for the production of cheques, insurance settlements, invoices and rebate coupons.

Digital Perfecting System 15% Faster Than Others
Fuji Xerox Australia has launched the Nuvera 288 digital perfecting system, a dual-print engine design that is claimed to set a new speed record for duplex monochrome cut-sheet printing systems.
Improved security features, such as Microtect and correlation mark fonts are now available as special imaging features of the MICR version.
Chris Aked, production printing systems marketing manager in Fuji Xerox Australia's Production Services Business Group, said: "The Nuvera 144 maximises productivity in both publishing and transactional print environments.
Because it can do it all - and fast - this system never need be idle.
The outstanding image quality produces text, photos, charts and diagrams with clarity and it makes the switch from offset to digital an easy decision." Finishing options are available, added the company, including booklet makers and binders.
The system also features print-image quality of 4,800 dots per inch (dpi) x 600dpi, which the company claimed is the highest resolution of any digital mono production printing system on the market.
Image quality is further enhanced with line screening - up to 156 lines per inch (lpi) giving customers increased sharpness and realistic pictures in their print jobs, said Fuji Xerox.
That level of screening is also claimed to eclipse offset magazine printing standards.
The systems also feature cleaning technology that removes dust particles, giving customers consistently sharp text and images.
The enhancements extend across the full line of Xerox Nuvera systems.
Maria Nordstrom, general manager of Fuji Xerox Australia's Production Services Business Group, commented: "The Xerox Nuvera 144 ensures our customers have the right system that meets their needs in either a centralised or decentralised environment.
This modular system can be designed to meet different scanning, inserting, finishing, stock and variable information requirements.
We are committed to fitting our products in to our customers' workflows - not the other way around." The Xerox Nuvera 144 system is driven by the Xerox Freeflow DocuSP print controller, which is said to provide comprehensive job programming and administration features with minimum training.
Unlike other systems, the Xerox Nuvera 144 is claimed to accept data in any industry-standard format, such as the Xerox Freeflow Variable Information Suite and PPML - designed for printing customised documents - and IPDS and LCDS for transactional jobs.
Digital presses that do not support native printing use software that translates the data stream before it reaches the printer.
That translation can result in a slower printing process and a higher likelihood of mistakes on the printed piece, said Fuji Xerox.
Aked added: "The Nuvera 144 has unsurpassed reliability that ensures maximum uptime so when transactional statements with time-sensitive payment obligations need to be distributed, they will meet the deadline every time." Fuji Xerox said it also offers its Printeract remote services to buyers of the Xerox Nuvera 144, including built in access to a 24-hour, seven-day response centre.
Using data delivered through the internet, Fuji Xerox said it can help customers identify potential printing problems and provide a quick and accurate diagnosis through real-time data analysis.
