Wide Format Systems Get FESPA Push

The company has added that it is adding new sales and marketing resources to further develop and expand its wide format business.

GBC is targeting the wide format printing market as a key growth area for its film and lamination products.

Danny Lauwers has been recently appointed as GBC's business director to drive the expansion plan in Europe, Africa and Middle East.

Lauwers brings 20 years of extensive experience in the graphic industry, having successfully held several positions at Agfa and Kodak.

He will be present at FESPA 2005 to elaborate on GBC's strategy in this area, said the company.

Giel Klinkers, European marketing manager at GBC Films Group Europe, said: "We are looking forward to FESPA 2005 and the opportunity to clarify GBC's dedication to the European wide format print finishing market.

Danny Lauwers is an excellent choice to direct this effort." GBC's product showcase will include three systems for the finishing of signs, displays, posters, banners, graphics, pop-ups and roll-ups.

At FESPA 2005 the company will also introduce the new Signmaker system, combining a table-top laminator with a new Accushield film to finish vinyl banners for short-term outdoor use.

Accushield uses a patented, dry-transfer process to offer what is claimed to be durable protection without the process inconvenience of liquid coatings.

It is said to be user-friendly and allows a fast and efficient production of displays and banners.

Securfilm, combined with the new Signmaker system, is an inkjet printable media that can act as a protective laminating film.

Available in gloss or matt finish in 965mm x 30mm format, Securfilm is claimed to create quality mounted boards in one step for indoor signage applications.

It laminates the image on a board and over-laminates it at the same time, added the company.

Klinkers added: "Our customers require easy and affordable solutions that guarantee the highest finishing quality, with Securfilm we offer them an integrated solution to better address the needs of the market." The Talon 64 laminator is designed for mid-range volume finishing and will be demonstrated with GBC's new self-adhesive Arctic High-Volume film for finishing indoor and outdoor applications for medium term use.
