GMG, the colour management and proofing specialist has signed a worldwide licensing agreement with Pantone to include the official Pantone Lab values in GMG products.

The Pantone Colour Library will be embedded in GMG's Colorproof 04 and later versions.

The software will allow users to adjust values to match a specific ink, printer and media combination said GMG.

The Pantone colours are also an integral part of GMG's Flexoproof, which was officially released at Drupa to specifically address the needs of the flexo printing industry.

"Due to Colorproof's spot colour handling capabilities, many GMG users work in areas like packaging and creative design, where spot colours are used extensively.

Therefore, making the Pantone Colour Library available to our users was a logical step.

For our customers, this means another step toward quality and security," said Jawdatt Mawassii, the manager of business development at GMG.

The company added that customers could continue to create their own spot colours by placing them in a separate database.

Andy Hatkoff, vice president of the electronic colour systems division at Pantone, added: "We are glad to have GMG as a partner, knowing that GMG is a leading DOD inkjet proofing developer.

We are also pleased to see support for Hexachrome by GMG.".
