Pantone Colours Embedded In Proofing Systems
GMG, the colour management and proofing specialist has signed a worldwide licensing agreement with Pantone to include the official Pantone Lab values in GMG products.
Using Gretag Macbeth's Eye-One spectral photometer (supplied with the product), colour bars are quickly measured and the resulting values compared with the target values stored in the system said GMG.
For all proofs within tolerance, a small adhesive label is printed on a label printer, also sold as part of Proofcontrol.
GMG has suggested that the label, complete with all relevant production information, is placed on the back of each calibrated proof.
In addition to the Media Wedge, supplied with GMG Colourproof, any other colour chart or bar can be used with individual defaults so that the printer can define a specific customised quality standard.
Proofcontrol does not require any previous product or software knowledge, as an electronic assistant guides the user through the procedure.
It documents reliability and proofs in compliance with all industry standards.
It also provides complete control over the entire proofing process, immediately detecting the slightest variation in colour claimed the company.
"We have always cooperated closely with all relevant technical organisations, actively supporting all initiatives towards open proofing standards.
The Media Standard Offset defined recently, is an enormous step forward.
For digital proofing, however, that means that every proof can be checked against independent target values.
Proofcontrol, and the Media Wedge contained in Colourproof, provides for every such contingency.
This control tool becomes even more important in networked production when driving remote proofing solutions," commented Robert Weihing, the chief executive officer of GMG.
