Pantone Colours Embedded In Proofing Systems
GMG, the colour management and proofing specialist has signed a worldwide licensing agreement with Pantone to include the official Pantone Lab values in GMG products.
The PSR-ECI standard is an initiative that was launched by the Otto-Versand mail-order company in collaboration with Axel Springer Verlag publishers in 1995, when what was known as the Ref-TD (Reference Colour Space Gravure) standard was defined.
In 2000, the standard was further developed into the Ref-TR V4, the current PSR-ECI standard, which is the yardstick used by the gravure printing industry throughout Europe today.
Up to now, there were only two references for the PSR-ECI standard: Cromalin Digital from DuPont, and GMG in conjunction with Iris, the GMG and Iris system serving as the reference for new certifications.
GMG Colorproof with the Epson 4000, 7600 and 9600 printer family has for the first time succeeded in achieving the high PSR-ECI standard.
GMG said it was the only manufacturer to meet the certification criteria.
Colorproof is said to produce identical, top-quality proofs on different printers of a family.
Consequently, GMG believes its technology is also a prime candidate for remote proofing applications.
Profiles for three paper types (MF = improved newsprint, LWC = lightweight coated, SC = supercalendered) are currently available for the Epson 4000, 7600 and 9600.
They can be downloaded from the support section of the GMG Web site free of charge.
"We are very proud of being the only company to receive PSR-ECI certification with the Epson printer family.
It means a breakthrough for service providers in graphic arts because it is now possible to obtain top proof quality on a proofing system that any company can afford.
The combination of Colorproof 04 and our GMG Proofcontrol 04 quality control system guarantees that proofing is carried out according to the PSR-ECI standard - anytime, anyplace," said Robert Weihing, managing director of GMG.
