GMG, creator of high-end colour management and proofing solutions, has received the FOGRA-cert for proofing systems.

With the Epson Stylus Pro 4800, GMG is believed to be the first proofing system to receive FOGRA certification for a device from the new Epson printer generation using Ultra Chrome K3 inks, which display improved metamerism, an enhanced, larger colour space, and optimised ink acceptance Especially in combination with the new GMG ProofPaper semimatte, the Epson output devices enable contract proofs of even better quality

GMG ColorProof uses a screening method that is optimised for the GMG ProofPapers and leads to a sharper result.

Typefaces are reproduced more accurately because of the sharper dot, while images become more brilliant as a result of better definition and enhanced detail rendi-tion.

Another special feature of GMG ProofPaper semimatte is the moderate content of optical brighteners in the proofing medium.

This property leads to a far better visual and measured match of the proofing results.

Creating GMG profiles is therefore easier and more accurate when using GMG ProofPaper semi-matte.

Visual adjustments are very often not necessary anymore.

FOGRA certification encompasses a series of tests, during which systems are tested for colour accuracy, repeatability, drift of the solid colours (fading), uniformity across the format (streaking), smooth-ness/fineness of grain (vignettes), and RIP functions for the PDF/X-3 standard.

"We are delighted about the certification of GMG proofing systems with the Epson printers in combination with the new GMG consumables, and would like to thank FOGRA for the excellent cooperation on this project".

"The world's first FOGRA certification of the new Epson 4800 with GMG ColorProof using GMG Proof-Paper semimatte 250gsm and GMG ProofPaper gloss 260gsm confirms the leading technological role taken by GMG in the production of color-accurate contract proofs," said Robert Weihing, managing director of GMG.

"It is our passion for quality that has been pushing the acceptance of digital contract proofs for years".

"We are proud to set the standard and will continue to do so".

With this certification, GMG confirms the outstanding results achieved in various national and international digital proofing shootouts, and demonstrates that excellent proofing results can be obtained with the new Epson generation in conjunction with the new GMG ProofPapers.

Apart from receiving the FOGRA-cert, the Epson 4800 with GMG ColorProof has already been certified to the Australian 3DAP standards and the American SWOP standard.

Further certifications of industry standards will be released soon.
