German company GMG, which develops and markets high-end digital proofing and colour management systems, has created a GMG France division.

In order to get closer to its French clients and establish a strong technical and commercial presence, GMG France intends to create extensive coverage by structuring local distribution networks, said the company.

GMG France is currently establishing a solid reseller network.

As part of that, Fuji France, a GMG partner from the start, provides national coverage for large companies such as Quebecor World, Maury Imprimeurs and Groupe Sego.

O2i, GMG's new reseller in the greater Paris area, has already installed over 40 systems, among which a major implementation at image processing specialist Picto.

GMG France has also signed agreements with three other resellers - one of them is Pixel-Tech, in the Rhone-Alpes region, which has already had successful installations for pre-press companies such as Trium, in Grenoble, added GMG.

Herve Schwertz of GMG France said: "GMG France is responsible for organising the distribution of the GMG software, logistics and technical support to meet the needs of printers, pre-press and marketing and communications companies.

We have a marketing team with 15 years' experience in the field and we offer technical services ranging from installation, on-site consultancy and remote support via a hotline." GMG France said that its technical support relies on an experienced external structure, specialised in colour management.

Schwertz added: "As of October we will be setting up GMG certification to verify the consistency of the quality of service provided by our selected resellers, who have received training from us." GMG France said it has adopted an approach that allows for a better understanding of local requirements and increases the company's responsiveness.

The company also collaborates with clients to offer a work methodology that guarantees customised, optimised colour management in-line with their requirements.

"Every day I am glad to hear clients say that GMG brings them a lot in terms of quality, productivity and customer satisfaction", said Schwertz.

GMG France should finalise the coverage of the French territory by Spring 2006.

The current team is made up of six employees and to date, 120 systems have been installed.
