GMG is to show a fundamentally revised version of its Colorproof 04 and several new proofing products at Drupa 2004.
Pantone Colours Embedded In Proofing Systems
GMG, the colour management and proofing specialist has signed a worldwide licensing agreement with Pantone to include the official Pantone Lab values in GMG products.
Colorproof produces press-accurate proofs, whilst the quality control system Proofcontrol is a component for remote and networked proofing.
"For years we worked with a non-standardised product that produced image rendering that wasn't always consistent with the print," said Didier Raulin, the pre-press manager at Dulac Media Partenaire.
"We were very pleased to see the arrival of a proofing system that complies with French graphic communication and printing union standards.
Now, when we print proofs, we know that the operator can print them on his press," he continued.
The team of nine pre-press specialists is delighted with the quality obtained since the implementation of the new software said GMG.
"The huge increase in quality is the main advantage that we have seen from our proofing systems since we've been using the GMG solutions," added Raulin.
"The improved quality is immediately visible in the pre-press department and in the pressroom." Dulac Media Partenaire prints a number of weekly newspapers and magazines.
GMG said that its systems have not only brought an increase in quality, but that they also save time in the pressrooms.
The approved files are sent with the proof via an internal network to the designated press for printing.
"GMG's philosophy is to produce press-accurate proofs.
In other words, it's up to the proof to simulate what the press can produce, and not down to the operator to set his press to the proof.
There's no point producing a flashy proof that can't be printed on the web presses," said Herve Schwertz of GMG France.
Didier Raulin concluded: "Firstly, clients are sending us fewer proofs, which contributes to our increased quality and consistency.
Secondly, the proofs required by clients always accurately reproduce the colour rendering of the final print.
Based on those premises, we are determined to implement the GMG solutions to the complete satisfaction of our clients and our web offset press operators.".
