Proofing System Reduces Customer's Prices
Picto, a provider of image processing, has installed three GMG Colorproof o4 proofing systems with the quality control and traceability system Proofcontrol to ensure results.
It meets Quelle's requirements because it produces colour contract proofs that simulate press output exactly, said the company.
Quelle produces almost three million copies of two seasonal general-interest catalogues with over 750 pages.
The accuracy of the colour profiles plays a vital role in printing the catalogues.

Doubled Proofing Kit Boosts Speed And Precision
W Digamma, a member of the SMG group, has doubled its complement of GMG Colorproof o4 proofing systems within a year.
"Using GMG proofs facilitates machine make ready, and printing is more regular and easier to manage with densitometry," said Yann Neymarc of GMG France.
Gerald Briche, photoengraving manager at Quelle, said: "When we purchased our Epson Stylus Pro 7600 large format inkjet printer, we had a choice between several colour management drivers.
We preferred GMG's Colorproof to any other system as its profile creation software is the most comprehensive on the market." He continued: "We create a large number of profiles internally and Colorproof enables us to create them in accordance with our specific requirements and to re-edit those that we had already created on our old system." The Tourcoing site previously used a more expensive system that had less communicative, more limited profile creation software.
The company also had doubts about the manufacturer's future.
"GMG Colorproof is a flexible piece of software that enables us to work on colourmetrics.
Combined with our Epson printer, which is very well positioned in terms of product and has no limit on format, the GMG system enables us to meet the colour production demands of every image on the numerous pages in each catalogue.
On a daily basis, we manage six profiles determined by a combination of our various offset and gravure suppliers, and a tool like GMG Colorproof guarantees colour rendering without any surprises or compromises," added Briche.
Yann Neymarc commented: "GMG brings precision in production, great reliability in the application of colour management and great efficiency in the implementation of colour standards.
We are delighted that a major mail order company such as Quelle is so pleased with it." According to Gerald Briche, GMG has fully mastered profile management: "We selected Colorproof because some of our printers had already been using the system successfully for some time, and especially for creating colour profiles.
What's more, CTP make ready is made much simpler given that the profiles guarantee rendering that is very close to the final print.".
