In 2006 alone, Ikea will produce 173 million catalogues and 650 million other publications - and the trend is on the increase.

The catalogues are available in 34 countries.

For the production operation now starting - the 2007 Ikea catalogue - Ikea and its pre-press and printing partners throughout the world will be using GMG Colorproof as their colour management and proofing system.

Ikea tested and evaluated the systems available on the market and GMG's Colorproof and the Epson proofers using the Ultrachrome K3 ink technology were identified by Ikea as being the colour management and proofing system that is best capable of guaranteeing worldwide compliance with the Ikea standard.

That standard was defined jointly by Ikea and GMG.

The results obtained by Inter Ikea Systems with the GMG products in regular production since the beginning of this year were noted with satisfaction by the responsible Ikea managers, thus confirming the decision in favour of GMG, said the company.

"Ikea is a tremendously important customer for GMG, since the company is known for its very tough demands on quality.

We are delighted that we were very quickly able to prove in the start-up phase that the GMG colour management and proofing system does justice to the demanding requirements in everyday practice," said Robert Weihing, managing director of GMG.

Jawdatt Mawassii, vice president of sales and business development at GMG, who was decisively involved in acquiring Ikea as a customer, added that an intensive partnership has been begun with Ikea that goes far beyond a normal customer relationship.
