Pantone Colours Embedded In Proofing Systems
GMG, the colour management and proofing specialist has signed a worldwide licensing agreement with Pantone to include the official Pantone Lab values in GMG products.
The target group for the GMG Colorproof Automated bundle includes users who already have a measuring instrument (Eye One from GretagMacbeth or DTP 20 from X-Rite) or will be investing in the new HP Designjet Z2100.
The company believes that the advantages of Colorproof Automated are further enhanced when used in conjunction with the newly announced HP Designjet Z2100.
The HP Designjet Z2100 is claimed to be the first inkjet printer to feature an integrated measuring instrument.

GMG has received high colour management marks at the IPA 04 Colour Proofing Roundup during the IPA Technical Seminar, held just held in Chicago (USA).
Together with GMG's Colorproof Automated - said to be the first proofing software to support the new printer - the HP Designjet Z2100 offers the user significant advantages, said GMG.
Robert Weihing, managing director of GMG, said: "The HP Designjet Z2100, GMG Colorproof and GMG media are optimally integrated.
This is the very first turnkey system for remote proofing and automatic calibration.
Automatic Colorproof calibration, monitoring and recalibration of the HP Designjet Z2100 ensures that every proof leaving the printer is a high-quality GMG contract proof." He added: "This proof can be repeated at any time, even on a different HP Designjet Z2100 at any other location, which are prerequisites for increasingly important remote proofing scenarios.
With the help of the internal spectrophotometer, every proof on the HP Designjet Z2100 can be automatically verified by Proofcontrol.
The SWOP Proofing Bar and UGRA/FOGRA Media Wedge are supported and included with the standard bundle." GMG claimed that proofing to industry standards is simple with Colorproof and the HP Designjet Z2100, and can be achieved quickly and easily, even by users without colour management knowledge.
With the Designjet Z2100, Colorproof supports the profiles of all common industry standards, such as ISO (ISO certification has already been granted), GRAcOL and SWOP, for instance.
The system is rounded out by GMG's Proofcontrol, which verifies proofs in a matter of a few seconds before they exit the printer, added the company.
Weihing explained: "Total costs of operation are further improved.
Fewer faulty proofs are printed, lowering proofing labour and materials, and further improving customer satisfaction.
The integrated measuring instrument also reduces initial capital costs by eliminating the cost of purchasing a dedicated measuring instrument." He continued: "Up to now, contract proofing has been inaccessible for a major section of the potential market - in the agency sector, for example - where in-depth colour management know-how required to reliably produce contract proofs was often cost-prohibitive.
With Colorproof Automated and the HP Designjet Z2100, the way is now clear for numerous users to easily produce contract proofs using an automated system.
The fear of having to handle complex measuring instruments, the constant pressure of making sure that the output device is correctly calibrated, creating complex profiles - all that and more are now things of the past." The GMG and HP system will be demonstrated at Photokina on the stand of Rauch IT in hall 10.1, stand C031 and C033.
