Colour Proofing System Scores Well In
Remote Tests
Independent comparative remote proofing tests have shown that GMG's Colorproof system performed well against other digital proofing systems.
The tests were performed by Wuppertal University and focused on testing based on various remote proofing scenarios, such as 'identical' output, proofing regardless of location and proofing the same digital data on more than one proofing system as a simulation of a printing process One of the tasks was to visually match the proof to a reference print, although not all participants understood that correctly, said GMG

Proofing System Wins FOGRA Certification
GMG has received certification for the new FOGRA 39L standard (ISO Coated V2) for the its Colorproof proofing system in conjunction with GMG Proofpaper semimatte 250 proofing paper.
Whilst GMG and one other manufacturer did visual matching, the remaining participants matched the proof colourimetrically, exclusively in relation to reference values.
The GMG proof and the proof produced by the other manufacturer were put on display for the visitors to the Print Media Production Forum as examples of outstanding visual matching, said the company.
GMG's system came out on top, along with two other manufacturers, in the colourimetric assessment of various media wedges according to the QProof (2.0) evaluation method of Wuppertal University, with 100 per cent target achievement being attained for all three media wedges.

GMG Targets Drupa For Major Launches
GMG is to show a fundamentally revised version of its Colorproof 04 and several new proofing products at Drupa 2004.
The company added that its Colorproof system has a slight lead when new assessment methods are applied with, for example, the score method (weighted rating for minimum (multiplier one), maximum (one), mean (four) and standard deviation (three).
A further test referred to the long-term stability of the proofs.
Two proofs were initially produced on the remote proofing system and compared to each other.
Four weeks later, a further two proofs were produced, again being compared to each other and also to the previously produced proofs.
GMG also passed the test without any criticism.
Whilst the media wedge was used exclusively for proof-to-print assessment at all events of this kind in recent years, the situation was different at this year's Print Media Production Forum.
Proof-to-proof assessments were shown, as advocated by GMG for controlling the quality of proofs.
Unfortunately in GMG's opinion, DeltaE assessment relative to the print was dispensed with completely, although the particular task in hand would have been a good example for demonstrating the inadequacy of DeltaE assessment in relation to the various wedges.
Robert Weihing, the managing director of GMG, commented: "We are delighted that our system once more did so exceedingly well in the colourimetric and visual assessment of remote proofs.
It was yet again obvious that small DeltaE values do not necessarily mean a good visual match.
The decisive factor is what the proofing software can get out of the printer's given colour space.
GMG has clear advantages in this respect as we make optimum use of the printer's colour space, meaning that we arrive at the best results.".
