Proofing software Colorproof version 4.5.2 is to incorporate a new RIP interpreter based on the latest Adobe PDF Print Engine technology.

GMG, the developer and supplier of Colorproof said that the implementation of the Adobe PDF Print Engine now guarantees complete compatibility with Adobe Acrobat software and Adobe Creative Suite versions two and three.

That means that Colorproof produces the same results as those displayed in Adobe Acrobat.

Additional benefits are said by GMG to include enhanced font handling with fewer errors, optimised transparency handling and qualitatively better support of PDF and PDX files.

New PDF specifications can also be implemented faster than in previous versions of the proofing software.

In addition to integrating the Adobe PDF Print Engine technology, Colorproof 4.5.2 also features other new functions, such as halftone proof support of the HP Z 6100 digital printer, the high-quality mode of the Epson 4880, 7880 and 9880 printers with smoother appearance and high-speed printing for form proofs, as well as for the Epson 4880, 7880 and 9880.

There is also 16-bit support for data import Version 4.5.2 is available without cost to users of Colorproof 4.5 and those customers with a service agreement.

Owners of an older version can purchase the update from authorised GMG dealers, added the company.

Adobe PDF Print Engine technology will be integrated not only in Colorproof but also in GMG's Dotproof, Flexoproof, Colorserver, and Inkoptimiser.

The new versions will be available this month.

Jawdatt Mawassii, GMG's vice president of business development and strategy, said: "We are dedicated to supporting standards.

Since Adobe is the RIP standard in the graphic arts industry, it was only logical for us to go for this standard in our software as well.

This enables us to guarantee the support of complex workflows." Raman Nagpal, Adobe's director for product management and engineering at the company's print technologies operation, added: "We are pleased that GMG has adopted the Adobe PDF Print Engine at the heart of its software.

GMG is growing rapidly in the proofing sector and Adobe's technology is helping it to address market segments, such as gravure printing, packaging and flexo.".
