FOGRA certified systems ensure quality
City and West End Solutions (CWE Solutions) is now able to offer support and consultancy services to enable offset printers to achieve the FOGRA process standard offset certification.
Simon Landau, the London (UK) reseller of large format print systems' technical sales manager has qualified as a partner of FOGRA for this process.
At the heart of FOGRA certification is the ability to produce proof and print that can be consistently controlled to stringent defined tolerance.
Landau says: "Print buyers and print management companies are increasingly turning to printers with a recognized certification such as FOGRA as a guarantee of quality." He adds that customers can be confident that the proofs CWE supplies will be just as they expected, as will the finished product.
Integral to this confidence in the process are the proofing device and the RIP.
GMG software works with all the leading manufacturers to ensure its RIP fits into the workflow system adds GMG.
GMG adds that many of its products are FOGRA certified, including Colorproof and Dotproof, together with many grades of GMG proofing media.
They also provide a tool for optimizing press output to improve quality and achieve the ISO12647-2 standards.
Printcontrol provides this ability and Rapidcheck is responsible for analyzing the output and keeping the press in-line.
The standardization process then allows for products such as GMG's Ink Optimizer to be used for print quality improvements and ink saving by using less CMY ink where it can be replaced by black.
FOGRA certification is one of the industry's top stamps of quality approval.
FOGRA is the leading standardization organization in the printing industry and internationally recognized as the measure of print quality for sheet fed and web offset printers.
Certification to ISO 12647-2 through FOGRA's process standard offset proves a printer's commitment to meeting the highest print quality standards for both content and colour.
It proves that the printer can print and proof to ISO 12647-7, and provide all the necessary background detail.
Having the FOGRA certification demonstrates that a printer has the ability to consistently meet precise international printing standards, based on ISO 12647-2, which use measurable criteria for proofing and printing in a production environment.
Through regular audits, the printer must show that he has full and proper control of his colour workflow from proof to print.
