Affordable Special Colours Inkjet Proofing System
Gimle has released its Absoluteproof Extrachrome inkjet proofing system.
The company developed what it claimed to be the world's first practical Hexachrome ink jet proofing system in 2002.
Now it is offering what it has described as the first and only system to achieve an accurate colour representation in a proofing workflow.
"The issue of Pantone colour matching in digital proofing workflows has been a significant hurdle for the printing industry from day one.

Act Now To Maintain Consumables Markets
Gimle believes that the printing market is adopting digital technology and companies in the pressroom and pre-press supply sector already know what impact that is having on consumables.
Proofing Software Works With Varied RIPs
Absoluteproof proofing software is now running in several locations with a range of printing devices and input sources.
Beware Workflow Problems With ROOM Systems
May 01 The ROOM workflow concept has been over-sold and the printing industry not been made aware of the problematical issues that it introduces.
It was evident from the IPA proofing round-up earlier this year, where 26 proofing systems attempted to match only 11 Pantone coloyrs, that results varied from DeltaE 2.9 to 20.59, returning a disappointing average DeltaE of 9.57.
We are pleased to be able to offer our clients a solution that can accurately reproduce the all 1,114 Pantone colours with average DeltaE as low as 1.87.
The printing industry and design professionals have never had more colour and control available at their fingertips, they can now reproduce Pantone colours with ease," said Hugo Kristinsson, the chief executive officer of Gimle.
Gimle said that field-testing of the Absolute Proof Extrachrome system has demonstrated accurate Pantone colour simulations for 93 per cent of the Pantone colours under a DeltaE 3.
The company believes that the the system has proved itself to be capable of processing over 100 special colours in the same job, whilst with standard inks it can simulate 85 per cent of the Pantone colours below DeltaE 3.
Absolute Proof digital proofing is licensed with the Pantone colour libraries and has RIP and colour integrity.
It can take input files directly from the plate or imagesetter RIPs as well as design applications.
Absolute Proof then re-combines and colour manages the information before sending the output file to the printer claimed Gimle.
In an imagesetter workflow Absolute Proof is claimed to give a precise simulation of how the job will reproduce on the press, showing Pantone colours, halftones, all traps, overprints, fonts and every file attribute that is matchable on a press.
Its features include six-channel linearisation feature that allows individual inks to be 'tuned' for optimising proofer output, as well as halftone proofing with claimed full control of dot gain.
It also includes remote proofing and consistency checking via support provided for Gretag Macbeth's Profilemaker Measure Tool.
Gimle said its team of people includes pre-press professionals with over 20 years' experience in the pre-press industry and a doctor in human vision.
The Absolute Proof product range is said to cover flexo, packaging, commercial and newsprint sectors.
The company claimed that its products and software are compatible with all the main wide format printer models from Epson, HP, Canon and Roland.
