The Postscript language level 3 and PDF 1.4 compatible Jaws RIP has been installed by Global Graphics into the printers' embedded controller board.
Global Graphics claims its Jaws RIP has a highly developed and very flexible application programming interface (API) that means that it can be readily integrated with any controller board.
It also said to operate more efficiently in diskless and memory restricted memory situations.
Konica Minolta relied on Global Graphics' expertise and experience in Postscript and direct PDF interpretation for its latest product line because quality of output and high performance were key criteria, said the company.
It has also asked Global Graphics to develop the Postscript printer description (PPD) for Windows and Mac platforms.
Office digital printing market and providers of proprietary controller platforms, Destiny, provided its Destiny printing system (DPS) and the PCL interpreter.
Global Graphics had a dedicated development team on the 18-month project who worked closely with Konica Minolta's and Destiny's own development teams.
The news represents a significant milestone in Global Graphics strategy to position itself as an OEM technology provider and engineering partner in the fast growing digital copier and printer market, said Jim Freidah, chief operating officer of Global Graphics.
"Over the past 2 years our company has put considerable research and development effort into meeting the needs of this market.
This is the first true results of this effort and it represents the first results of our partnership with Destiny," he added.
