Jaws RIP Licence Powers Inkjet Print Modules
Global Graphics, has licensed its Jaws RIP technology to Canon Finetech to provide the processing power for a range of inkjet print modules.
Amongst its applications, the Jaws RIP is integrated in to the Colorburst RIP, Onyx's RIPCenter, Postershop and Productionhouse products and GMG's Colorproof, Dotproof and Flexoproof.
The Jaws RIP is a kernel interpreter supplied as a software development kit and with a highly developed application programming interface (API), around which software developers can wrap layers of functions to create custom systems for their market segments, added the company.
Its small footprint and flexibility make it suitable for embedding in to software applications.
"Because of its flexible device class interface, two different customers, both working with the Jaws RIP can easily develop unique products that address the needs of entirely different market areas," observed Dan Woodford, Global Graphics' Jaws RIP product manager.
He continued: "The main strengths of the Jaws RIP have always been it's flexibility, portability and reliability.
This new release is focused on building on those strengths, allowing OEMs to build best of class RIPs, document management tools and other PDL related applications around Jaws.
Native PDF 1.5 interpretation was a key requirement from our customers in the wide format and digital print markets, as well as the document management and graphics arts applications markets.
In addition 16-bit rendering will allow OEMs to deliver better quality color fidelity in the increasingly competitive fine art market.
The new, customisable file system feature adds yet more flexibility for our embedded and applications OEMs and is a prime example of sophisticated engineering allowing maximum portability for Jaws and development potential for our customers.".
