I feel very honoured to have been invited to stand as vice-chair and I hope that I'll be able to help guide the organisation in continuing to provide assistance to the industry in meeting the challenges of the future." CGATS was formed in 1987 following a year-long assessment of the need for an umbrella standards committee by the Image Technology Standards Board (ITSB) of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and received ANSI accreditation in 1989.
The goal of CGATS is to have the entire scope of printing, publishing and converting technology represented in one national standardisation and coordination effort, while respecting the established activities of existing accredited standards committees and industry standards developers.
Mary Abbott, NPES director of standards programs and administrator of both CGATS and ISO TC 130 WG 2, said: "Mr Bailey has been an effective leader and active participant in the standards development process, both in CGATS and in ISO.
