Global Graphics is providing new features in the latest version of Canon System Solutions' Edicolor page-layout application.
Used in the print and publishing industry in Japan, version 8.0 of Edicolor has just been launched.
Integration of Global Graphics' technology has taken four months, from Canon System Solutions' initial evaluation of the software to product shipment, allowing Canon System Solutions to release its product on target as originally scheduled, said Global Graphics.
From Version 8.0, Edicolor users will be able to create and print PDF files directly from the application without the need to purchase a third party PDF creation tool.
In addition to the new features Global Graphics' technology enables users to make high-precision adjustment to page layouts by making it possible to display high-resolution EPS images on screen, claimed the company.
Canon System Solutions required a PDF input and output feature with a fast processing speed.
The company was confident that it could integrate the Jaws RIP and PDF technology in to its application in a short timeframe due to Global Graphics' expertise in PostScript and PDF and its track record for reliable software and technical support, said the company.
Edicolor's image processing and print output engines are based on PostScript and because Edicolor users create PDF for professional print purposes it was an essential requirement that the PDF creation process did not lose the CMYK data attributes in the PostScript data, added Global Graphics.
In performance tests Canon System Solutions found that the speed at which Global Graphics' technology created the PDF files was faster than using any other tools.
Hiroshi Tada, Canon System Solutions' general manager of the document system department comments: "We have been so impressed with the quality of the Global Graphics technology and its very rapid response times that we are now looking at supporting a wider range of user requirements by incorporating the company's technology components in to our products.
Our workflow system used for newspaper printing is one of the first areas we will examine." Jim Freidah, Global Graphics' chief operating officer, added: "Global Graphics' technology continues to be selected by top companies looking for robust RIP and PDFs in the print and publishing markets.
We are very pleased that our technology and reputation combined with our flexible licensing arrangements and our technical support and service are factors that Canon System Solutions has valued in our business relationship.".
