GretagMacbeth has received the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) award for its Eye-One series colour management systems.

Since its foundation as an independent, non-profit publishing group in 1991, it is the first time that the jury has honoured a colour management category.

GretagMacbeth said that the TIPA award is considered the European 'Oscar' of the photo and imaging industry.

Once a year the 31 member magazines from 12 European countries meet to vote for the best photo and pmaging products in Europe.

Product nominations are based on several factors including quality, innovation, improvement, ease of use, and broadness of scope.

The jury commented that the Eye-One series addressed a the major issue of colour management in digital photography.

The complexity and expense of applying management to digital images had prevented many professionals from developing a true understanding of the subject.

With the modular Eye-One product line, GretagMacbeth addressed that issue.

The colourimeter offered an excellent, affordable entry-level system for calibrating laptops, flat panel and CRT monitors, and Eye-One photo package comes with a spectrophotometer device for both emissive (monitors) and reflective (print) measuring.
