Gradual Software, a specialist in software for automating the publishing process, presented CaslonFlow 5.5 at IFRA 05, which took place in Leipzig from 15-18 October 2005 Gradual Software was on booth 2F 752 together with callas software

CaslonFlow 5.5 is Gradual Software's award-winning desktop automation tool that visually glues together third-party applications to create one seamless workflow and facilitates file transfer between remote sites.

CaslonFlow 5.5 is suitable for step-by -step automation, enabling efficient workflows to be built for every production environment across the entire publishing process, from creation to publication.

The new version was demonstrated during IFRA 05 and included new configurators with support for numerous popular third-party software programs, as well as an expanded feature set and a streamlined user interface.

Peter Camps, Gradual's chairman and CEO commented: 'CaslonFlow 5.5 expands upon our mission to deliver solutions that streamline workflows and enable users to build pathways between the islands of automation that may exist in their production environments.

'Our new third-party vendor partnerships have brought additional PDF-based productivity tools under the CaslonFlow configurator umbrella, making it more useful than ever'.

CaslonFlow 5.5 now includes configurators for several new PDF processing tools from third-party vendors: pdfInspektor3, pdfCorrect, and pdfColorConvert from callas software; and PDF Enhancer from Apago.

These popular software packages allow users to perform a host of useful functions and operations on PDF files, to ensure smooth processing and compatibility with different systems.

Gradual Software has non-exclusive technology co-operation and product bundling agreements in place with callas software and Apago, and will continue to add other third-party software tools to CaslonFlow's configurator list.

Like its predecessor, CaslonFlow 5 (and Gradual Software's initial release), CaslonFlow 5.5 also works with the best-selling Adobe Creative Suite applications (Acrobat Distiller, Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign), as well as Enfocus PitStop Server.

The latest third-party solutions added to CaslonFlow 5.5 callas software, pdfInspektor3 analyses and preflights PDF files by checking approximately 400 characteristics and displaying the results in different file formats for analysis and action.

pdfColorConvert converts RGB/Lab data and determines colors within PDF documents for boosted colour matching output.

pdfCorrect lets users quickly solve a range of PDF problems through a simple preflight check, identifying and correcting them in seconds so the job can run smoothly.

Apago PDF Enhancer streamlines the creation of PDF documents by automating the most common document assembly and preparation tasks that often require several applications and considerable time and effort.

The pathway to publishing automation Uses for CaslonFlow 5.5 are virtually unlimited.

Here are a few examples of processes within the publishing workflow that can benefit from CaslonFlow automation: creating and checking PDF files; receiving and sending files; soft and hard proofing; processing images, such as colour correcting, compressing, or down-sampling.

CaslonFlow 5.5 works with any hot folder application.

Workflows are easy to design and configure, thanks to an intuitive visual representation that can be adapted as needed.

The product allows step-by-step implementation for efficient deployment and flexible growth.

Best of all, CaslonFlow 5.5 can automate production operations while preserving investment in existing third-party applications and allowing freedom of choice.

Unlike 'ad hoc' do-it-yourself workflow structures that rely on linked hot folders and complex scripting, CaslonFlow is a quickly implemented, simple-to-use solution that leverages the power of third-party applications to unite every participant in the workflow, from design to publication.

CaslonFlow 5.5 is available immediately for purchase at a price of EUR1999.

Registered users of any previous CaslonFlow version may upgrade to the latest release at no charge, until the end of 2005.
