Gradual Software has released Switch 06 update 5, a new update for its Switch product line.

The Switch family of products, which includes Lightswith, Fullswitch and Powerswitch, is claimed to enable users to implement workflow automation systems tailored to meet the production needs of individual work environments.

Enhancements in update 5 include support for automating the latest version of Adobe Acrobat 8 in addition to Acrobat 7 (Fullswitch and Powerswitch only), the ability to automatically activate fonts stored with a job in the configurator for Adobe InDesign CS2 (Fullswitch and Powerswitch) and a performance increase in the handling of large files and job folders (up to 30 per cent faster in simulated production).

The update also includes support for file names with extraordinary characters on both Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows, and in ZIP archives, as well as various stability improvements and fixes.

David van Driessche, chief operating officer at Gradual Software, commented: "Through our frequent update policy, we're able to put new features and enhancements in user's hands as soon as we develop them.

In particular, the features in Update 5 were totally driven by customer demand." Update 5 is available as a free download from Gradual Software's website.
