Graphic Systems Group has appointed Eric Hegdahl as marketing technology officer.
Graphic Systems Group (GSG) works with some of New York's most prominent companies, including Major League Baseball, Citibank, Elizabeth Arden, Maybelline, Revlon, Estee Lauder, NBC and Aeropostale.
Hegdahl has joined GSG with over 15 years of technical and pre-press experience in the graphic arts and printing industry.
At GSG, he will report directly to owner and partner Ken Madsen and will be responsible for assisting clients in optimising workflow efficiencies through training and educational seminars.
He will assist GSG clients in better understanding about how marrying business process management with technology can enhance the impact of their marketing campaigns.
Hegdahl is a Northeastern University graduate (bachelor of science, in graphic communications) who has devoted his career to printing and publishing technologies, said GSG.
He has previously held positions of increasing responsibility at several major graphic arts firms, including the National Association of Desktop Publishers, Graphic Express (Boston), Manhattan Color Graphics, The Colorwheel (eight years as pre-press manager) and plant manager positions at both DOTS and American Color.
He is also an active member of several industry associations, including Idealliance, P3 (Partnership in Print Production) and The Advertising Production Club of New York, a trade association for professionals and students in the graphic communications industry.
In addition, he teaches graphic arts-related courses at City University of New York, College of Technology in Brooklyn and is on the board of directors for the Xinet Users Group.
He recently left Fuel Digital (re-touching and graphic arts company in NYC) as the company's vice president of technology to join GSG.
Ken Madsen said: "The advanced matrix of technology at GSG can sometimes be intimidating for our client base.
Our aim is to simplify processes and drive down costs, reduce delays and maximise efficiency.
This requires a continuing assessment of best practices to ensure each account is satisfied and that we're meeting and exceeding customer expectations." He added: "The MTO's role at GSG is that of a technology diplomat, as well as evangelist and educator.
Eric will interface with the clients and guide them on how to increase cost savings through efficiencies in production and workflow, time-savings though streamlining and technology facilitation and ease-of-operations through simplified remote project management and monitoring.
The more informed our clients are, the more effectively and efficiently we can serve their needs.".
