Agfa Colour Proofing's Total Systems Integration
London's Clement and Foster has built upon its recent £0.5m investment in a new press and CTP equipment, with the installation of Agfa Grand Sherpa digital colour proofing.
The company has continuously worked with Grand Central Partnership to develop and install projects for New York City.
Ken Madsen, GSG's president, said: "The 24-inch decals were produced on a HP9000 plotter and imaged directly on to 3M concrete vinyl wrapping.
Applied with very aggressive adhesive and polycarbonate over-laminate, the compasses are skid and peel-resistant.
We used similar materials, with great success, for street signage we produced in 2000 during the 'Subway World Series' between the Yankees and the Mets." He added: "Though the first four compass decals are part of a pilot programme, they're designed each to be readable and decorative for years to come.
Once the programme is deemed a success, we look forward to producing the additional compass signage per the city's needs." Each compass sidewalk decal displays the name of the street and what street lies one block in each direction.
The pilot program aims to assist pedestrians and exiting subway passengers to quickly orient themselves.
GSG has installed four decals, each near subway exits.
"Not a single person, native New Yorker or visitor, can truthfully claim that they have not, at least once, been confused as to which direction to walk when emerging from a subway station," said NYC transportation commissioner Sadik-Khan.
