Highlight Digital Imaging and Print is continuing its growth through investment with further expansion of its print operations.

Graphic Arts Equipment has just installed the Horizon VAC-Turbo Power Collating system with on-line SPF-20a Autoset booklet maker at the Warrington company.

It represents High Digital's first step in in-house bindery and it hopes to also buy a new Horizon Stitchliner as a follow-up.

Highlight was established as a trade repro service in the late 1980s and it added litho print as business developed, with two B2 Komori Lithrones and a Xerox colour digital print system.

Highlight director Mike Hatton said: "Although our business is built around the provision of finished product, our success is determined by our ability to control quality within required cost parameters.

That translates as retaining core processes in-house and sub-contracting out more variable specialist operations.

Until now we considered that investment beyond basic bindery would be more likely to inhibit our offering than enhance it." However, the company reviewed its thinking when it we saw the speed, versatility and quality of the equipment GAE had to offer, he added.

In essence, bindery technology now matched Highlight's fast response service.
