Leader of the UK's Conservative Party, David Cameron MP, saw a press in action when he helped constituency printer Alden Press celebrate the official opening of its new factory.

During the move, from central Oxford to nearby Witney, the operation received an unexpected premium from investment decisions made at Ipex when three newly-installed Horizon systems helped save the day.

The four-clamp BQ-460 and single-clamp BQ-270 perfect binding machines and HT-30 three-side trimmer stepped in to the breach to ensure essential deadlines were met whilst the global book production specialist's Kolbus line was being transported and recommissioned.

Alden Press's production manager, Alan Harrison, said: "The only hitch was the lack of gathering facilities, so it was all hands to the pump.

And that meant all hands, - including members of the Alden family who were here to see the new facilities.

But it was an excellent experience and we met our deadlines, though we are pleased to have all our systems up and running once again and to be back to full capacity." The 4,300 square metres purpose-built factory houses a specialist digital unit, new 10-colour B1 KBA long perfecting press and B1 and B2 folding systems, in addition to the Kolbus line and new Horizon machines.
