After upgrading its pressroom and increasing production, UK quickprint specialist, Presstoprint has now improved its bindery with automated Horizon booklet production and folding systems.
Supplied by Graphic Arts Equipment (GAE) the new equipment, including an Horizon AFC-544Ajdf, replaced an older system that only had two plates and could not do the variety of patterns Presstoprint needed, so a lot of work was being sent out, which has now all been brought back in-house Presstoprint's customer service manager, Mike Cowan, said: "Our original equipment, which was also Horizon, was over 10 years old and as our volumes were increasing we were getting a backlog

We looked at various manufacturers but the GAE package was clearly the best." Presstoprint operates through seven outlets in the south west of England, optimising resources in dedicated production centres.
The new Horizons - a 20 station VAC-Turbo PowerCollator with JDF-ready SPF/FC-200A 4,000 books per hour (bph) booklet production line and AFC-544Ajdf automated four-plate combination buckle and knife B2 folding system are installed at the Reading facility.
