Paper Counting Machines Join GAE's Systems Range
Graphic Arts Equipment has been awarded the exclusive UK and Ireland distributorship for the Uchida Countron range of paper counting machines.
A feature of the system is a sheet-counter that gives the user the option to pre-set the machine to stop after a pre-defined number of sheets have been laminated, saving waste and increasing productivity.
Ian Greatorex, managing director of the digital print specialist, Orange Advertising, explained the range of business to business work produced, including corporate brochures and report and accounts, meant a fast, reliable and flexible system was required.
He said: "Our old bookletmaker was taking ages and we needed something that was more automated.
In the first month since its installation we produced up to 25,000 booklets.
Previously that would have been collated by hand.
Now we are saving hours in time and, therefore, money." He commented: "The bookletmaker has improved our capabilities hugely.
The work looks better and flatter and we have cut out creepage.
Our capacity and all-round quality is better and we are now able to offer a faster service.
We are now looking to take on extra staff.
We don't have any sales people at the moment as all the work we receive is through word of mouth but, now we can produce more, it is time to expand this part of the business." Greatorex added that speed was the main reason the company needed to upgrade it finishing capabilities.
Ten minutes after being laminated the work is ready to be guillotined and the new facilities have enabled Orange Advertising to work much quicker.
Orange has also saved money on outsourcing, as he outlined: "We were spending up to GBP3,000 a month so bringing the service in-house was a 'no-brainer'.
The build quality and speed of the GBC is good and it covers all our needs.".
