Easy To Operate Binder Produces Books Quickly
With the aim of boosting its the production of its bindery, Intype Libra agreed to buy a four-clamp Horizon BQ470JDF binding system at Digital Print World.
Sold by Graphic Arts Equipment (GAE) the Wimbledon, London (UK) digital printing firm will install the Horizon system to handle books, reports, manuals, conference packs, training courseware and overnight financial documentation.
A single-clamp Horizon BQ270 and a Sheridan three-clamp had been managing the workload for the 24-hour operation but the time came to increase the finishing capabilities.
Intype Libra's managing director, Tony Chapman, commented: "The BQ270 always produced an excellent product but the BQ470 will improve the speed of throughput." GAE said that one of the main features of the BQ470JDF is the large icon-based colour touch-screen.
Chapman said that was an important factor in the decision to buy and added: "It will be easier to operate through the simple-to-use interface.
With two day's training our staff can produce the highest quality binding that previously required a time served tradesman.
That means our staff can be more flexible." He continued: "As we operate 24 hours the ease of set-up means we can produce much more at night too." The Horizon system is claimed to bind books up to 65mm thick at up to 1,350 copies per hour (cph) and has a vertical elliptical track design.
It is fully automated and JDF compliant via Horizon's i2i Networkflow system.
Tony Chapman was so pleased with the Horizon BQ270 that when the company to upgrade he looked no further than GAE.
He said: "We were happy with the tight, square output of the BQ270 and the white elastic glues create a superb, durable bind.
The quality is exceptional and as we just needed to increase output by improving flexibility amongst operators, upgrading to the four-clamp binder made complete sense.".
