Graphic Arts Equipment has been awarded the exclusive UK and Ireland distributorship for the Uchida Countron range of paper counting machines.

The Uchida Countron range starts with the T-350 A3 desktop system and extends up to the flagship Countron Twin, a double-headed B1+ system It is said to be capable of simultaneous counting of two corners of the same stack for double-checked accuracy, or individual operation for double-speed standard counting

On view in the Graphic Arts Equipment (GAE) showrooms at Perivale (UK) is the Countron 2200, which is said to handle sheets from below A6 to B1+ and between 22gsm and 255gsm.

It features auto-count, tab insertion, number checking and appointed number counting as standard and a self-diagnostic function informs the operator of any malfunctions.

The system's counting speed is claimed to be 2,200 sheets per minute.

Options include different sizes and types of table, including folding and air-bed, as well as a variety of suction blades.

GAE's stable of finishing systems includes machines from Horizon, Perfecta, Durselen and Kirikko, in addition to Renz, GBC, Lasermax Roll Systems, Toppy and Italdibipack.

The company's joint managing director, Tony Hards, commented: "The Countron is a high quality, robust machine that is a perfect complement to our range.

Accuracy and reliability are a must for any good paper counting system but the Uchida is also extremely user-friendly.

For example, it wheels on lockable castors, so there's no need for special levelling or location and the tabbing tape is really easy to thread, which are the sort of features that make all the difference in everyday operation.".
