GMC Software Technology announced that leading mailer Barton and Cooney has standardised on PrintNet document personalisation software.

GMC Software Technology, the New Standard in personalised customer communications, has announced that leading mailer Barton and Cooney has standardised on PrintNet document personalisation software to enhance and add value to all facets of document and communication services they provide their customers.

"GMC is playing a key role in upgrading our document composition capabilities," said Barton and Cooney CFO Christopher Klitus.

"We are using their PrintNet software to improve turn-around time on critical customer marketing campaigns by speeding up document design and modification".

Barton and Cooney is one of largest mailers located in the Northeast, but serves customers throughout the US.

The company provides a full range of services including transaction processing, billing, printing and direct mail/fulfillment to businesses and municipal governments.

Because Barton and Cooney works within many industry sectors and a broad spectrum of application areas, they needed a flexible document composition tool capable of processing both transactional documents and direct mail applications.

An extensive, methodical search process involved evaluation of about 20 potential vendors.

"We felt that GMC offered the best fit for our business requirements," explained Dennis Cramer, Director of Technical Support for Barton and Cooney.

"We found that most packages provide a solution for either direct mail or for transactional applications, but PrintNet was one of the few that offered a complete solution for both applications, and it had the greatest value of the higher end packages." Cut-sheet and roll-fed printers provide capacity for 30 million images per month at Barton and Cooney, and PrintNet will be used to drive the majority of these applications.

"We also plan to use PrintNet to repurpose our legacy transactional print applications to create more relevant communications and streamline processing," Klitus stated.

"We'll redesign statements to add marketing messages, personalisation and graphics, and we can support full-color, highly personalized direct mail for our existing and potential customers".
