Following success in the eight-page market, Philip Myers Web, based in the Wirral, Cheshire (UK) ordered a new Goss Printstream 100 press at Ipex.
The press has been bought to meet growing demand for Myers Web's products.
The press will join an existing eight-page Heidelberg web press at the plant where the company is planning a facility extension to house the new machine.
The new six-unit press will be configured with a Goss Contiweb SH splicer and a JF-130 folder and it will print a variety of eight-page products including broadsheets, leaflets, flyers and brochures.
John Walter, group chairman of Philip Myers Web and Philip Myers Press, explained the benefits the new press will offer his business: "Although the eight-page market is traditionally very niche, we have succeeded by focusing on its specific requirements and offering the fastest turn-arounds to our customers.
The new Goss press with Contiweb splicers and JF-130 folder will significantly reduce make-ready time, enabling us to increase our production output, and further speed up print jobs." Walter went on to explain his confidence in Goss International: "When we decided to buy a new press, we did not go to any other suppliers.
The excellent service and support we have experienced for our existing press and the quality and reliability offered by Goss technology made buying the Printstream press an easy decision." Philip Myers Web is partly owned by Philip Myers Press, a sheetfed press facility in Warrington.
Chris Howard, managing director of Philip Myers Web, explained the benefits for the company's customers: "We have seen an increased demand for shorter runs.
Web presses are becoming very competitive for short-run lengths and this new purchase will enable our customers to choose between web or sheetfed print to ensure they get the best possible price.
The press will also offer enhanced print quality and six-colour print capability to satisfy our customers' demands." John Chambers, Goss's sales director for the UK and Ireland confirmed: "This order marks an exciting start to Ipex for Goss International and for Philip Myers Web.
It is great to be working with a customer who has so successfully met the demands of this challenging market and we are delighted to be offering them the technology they need to expand.".
