Ifra Sees Goss Prove Flexible Printing System
At Ifra Expo 2006 Goss International said it will be announcing several strategically important achievements in the company's drive to provide a competitive edge for publishers and printing companies.
The investment follows the increased circulation and colour requirements of its leading newspaper title Sabah, and will develop the plant in to a newspaper production facility to match not only today's, but tomorrow's requirements, claimed Goss.
The installation will take place in three carefully planned stages to match the dynamic Turkish newspaper market without interrupting the production on the existing press equipment.
Selim Gulmen, managing director at Merkez Yayin Holdings, commented: "As a business we wanted to gain the biggest increases in capacity, flexibility and efficiency with the minimum capital investment.

Leading Scottish Paper Refurbishes Goss Colorliner
Scotsman Publications, a division of Johnston Press, has selected Goss International to undertake a major refurbishment of the Goss Colorliner press at its Edinburgh, Scotland facility.
Goss has worked with us to understand our needs, and together we have produced a completely flexible and future-proof system." The first stage of the project - the installation of a four-high Goss Colorliner 80 printing tower - was completed last November.
The second stage will be the conversion of a mono-unit in to a four-high tower with the addition of three Colorliner printing units.
The third stage will involve upgrading the controls system on the Colorliner press and the company's two existing Goss HT70 presses to harness the latest systems available enabling pre-setting across all three presses using a single network.
Sedat Yazar, technical manager at Sabah, said: "For me it's key to ensure a seamless transition from our existing technology to the new, latest technology without disrupting our current production.
So far we have achieved our goals on schedule, within budget and with uninterrupted production continuing." Once the installation is finished the new press will be capable of printing up to 112 tabloid pages with 96 pages of full colour.
Ian Buckley, director of projects and press commissioning at Goss International, explained: "In the time it takes most people to carry out a feasibility study, Sabah has identified their needs, sourced the equipment and executed the project.
Sabah has taken a radical route to upgrade its print facility to the latest technology, whilst ensuring that production keeps rolling every day and night." He added: "It is not unusual to see people upgrading the sub-systems that make up a print facility to give them the benefits of the latest technology, however, what is unusual is to see it happen at such a pace.
I suspect we will see more projects carried out at this pace in the future.".
