Goss Presses Will Differentiate Belgian Newspapers
One of Belgium's leading media publishing groups, SA IPM, will install two Goss Universal 75 presses featuring 100 per cent heatset capability.
One of Belgium's leading media publishing groups, SA IPM, will install two Goss Universal 75 presses featuring 100 per cent heatset capability.
The new presses will be installed in a new press hall to be constructed at the Anderlecht print facility of Sodimco, a subsidiary of the IPM group.
The Goss machines will be used to print leading newspapers La Libre Belgique and La Derniere Heure Les Sports, as well as numerous heatset supplements, which have previously been outsourced.
Patrice Le Hodey, Francois Le Hodey and Eric Bouko, president of the board of directors, managing director and technical director, respectively, at Sodimco, commented: "We required a press that would enable us to produce 64 full-colour heatset pages with the highest quality possible for our leading newspaper titles.
We also wanted to produce almost all of our work in-house without having to outsource production, as this will allow us much tighter quality control of our products." They added: "The Universal 75 press is proven in the market for high quality and unbeatable flexibility and will also offer us advanced levels of automation." The Universal 75 presses for Sodimco will feature a 70cm cut-off to enable La Libre Belgique and La Derniere Heure Les Sports to be produced in the new 35cm x 25cm format required.
This will result in a 64-page fully heatset newspaper product from each press.
Furthermore the two presses will be installed duplex, enabling a maximum 128 pages when all four printed webs are sent to one folder, added Goss.
Each new press will be configured as two four-high towers, one 2:3:3 folder with quarterfold, two dryers and two reelstands.
The order also includes the Goss Digirail digital inking system, which is said to be proven in reducing waste, providing improved print quality and improved start-up efficiency.
The Goss digital inking system facilitates fast press start-ups and improves consistency of ink setting during the run, said the company.
Alain Calvet, area sales manager at Goss International said: "In an increasingly competitive world differentiation is vital for survival.
These two Goss Universal 75 presses will enable the IPM Group to differentiate two of their leading newspaper titles with the new format size, and heatset colour.
Furthermore, the trend to bring more production back in-house can be realised with this investment.".
