Four new technical seminars have been confirmed by Goss for the 38th Metro Users Group conference.

Four new technical seminars have been confirmed by Goss for the 38th Metro Users Group conference.

Hosted by Tucson Newspapers and The Arizona Republic, the conference will be held at the Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Resort (USA) from February 25 - March 1.

Held simultaneously on March 1, the four seminars will focus on plates and CTP technology, RTPs and the latest technology, 27.7# lightweight newsprint and web-width changes and format considerations.

Goss added that the sessions will highlight the latest technologies, industry drivers and trends and focus on quality control for each of the areas covered.

A panel discussion and a question and answer session will also form an integral part of each session.

The company believes that the seminars add to a programme that includes cost-saving and revenue-enhancing ideas, Goss International technology updates, breakout sessions and a tour of the Tucson Newspapers' production facility, as well as the annual Metro Users Golf Tournament.

Larry Appleby, president of the Metro Users Group, commented: "The learning opportunity provided by this packed programme of sessions makes this conference an essential event.

Hearing the insights of these speakers offers an exciting addition to an event where networking with delegates provides access to vast Goss press production and technical experience." The Metro Users Group was formed in the United States in 1968 to allow the sharing of knowledge of newspaper production techniques.

Goss said that since its founding, the group has expanded to embrace Goss's double width models including Metro, Metro-Offset, Metroliner, Cosmo-Offset, Headliner, Colorliner and Newsliner presses, as well as the single width Universal range of presses.

The Metro Users Group has contributed greatly to driving change and growth in offset newspaper production in the United States and around the world, added Goss.
