Poland's largest web offset printer, Winkowski Printing, is equipping a new facility at Wyszkow, near Warsaw with four new Goss Sunday presses.

Poland's largest web offset printer, Winkowski Printing, is equipping a new facility at Wyszkow, near Warsaw with four new Goss Sunday presses.

With the first Sunday 3000/32 press now in operation, installation of the first 40-page short grain Sunday 4000 system is nearing completion.

The final two presses will be installed in the autumn of this year.

The new equipment will bring the benefits of gapless blanket technology and high automation to the new facility, said Goss.

Winkowski Printing president and co-owner, Tadeusz Winkowski, explained: "We chose the presses because experience at our Pila facility has proven the Sunday presses to be versatile, delivering high quality competitively, whether on long or short runs." A loyal Sunday technology user, Winkowski placed orders in 2005 for a long-grain 32-page Sunday 3000 press with a PCF-1.2 folder and a short grain 40-page Sunday 4000 press with a PFJ-3 folder, each with Goss Contiweb FD pasters and Ecocool dryers.

The Sunday 3000 featured a 565mm cut-off and 1,830mm web width, whilst the Sunday 4000 had a 445mm cut-off and 1,680mm web width.

A further two orders were signed in early January for an additional Sunday 3000/32 and Sunday 4000 press.

The specification of the second Sunday 3000/32 press is identical to the first, whilst the Sunday 4000 will have a 445mm cut-off and a 1,980mm web width and will produce up to 48-page signatures.

Winkowski will produce high-quality weekly and monthly magazines on its new presses, added Goss.

With the company's first investment in to short-grain presses, Winkowski is looking forward to meeting new market requirements including the demand for pocket-sized magazines, it added.

By investing in technology, Winkowski believes it is able to provide a value-added service for its customers, offering a full range of services from one vendor, rather than discount printing from several.

Bert Schoonderbeek, a member of the Goss International senior management team, said: "The features of our Sunday presses, such as automation, high pagination, high speed and premium gapless-blanket print quality make them the perfect match for a company that values state-of-the art technology, like Winkowski." Continually seeking to supply superior print quality and effectively building trust within the business secured an award for Tadeusz Winkowski as Ernst and Young's Polish entrepreneur of the year for 2005.

As the first representative of the printing industry to receive the tribute, the company was officially recognised for its growing success.
