The New York Times has signed an order for a new Goss Colorliner double-width press for its production facility in Queens, New York (USA).
The new press, with 12 towers and 96 printing couples, is scheduled to be installed in early 2008.
The agreement also calls for Goss International to complete web-width reduction projects on five existing Colorliner presses at the facility.
The new Colorliner press for The New York Times will have a 22-inch cut-off and be equipped with Goss Contiweb pasters and two Goss J255 jaw folders.
The web width on the five existing Colorliner presses will be reduced to 48" to match that of the new press.
Goss International chief executive officer, Bob Brown, said: "We are excited about extending our relationship with The New York Times.
This project reflects a shared vision of how new technology, ideas and enhancements can continuously improve the impact and value of printed newspapers." Tom Lombardo, vice president, production for The New York Times, said: "Goss International offers a strong combination of technology, resources and expertise.
That, coupled with the merits of the Goss Colorliner, led to our decision,".
