In response to an increasingly deadline-driven market, commercial printer IGPM has invested in two new Goss presses, one M-600 C system and one 32-page Sunday 4000 system.
The Goss presses will help IGPM to meet growing demand for fast turn-arounds and high-quality print.
The new presses will both be used to print mailers, magazines and catalogues and will be installed at the company's facility in Saint-Etienne (France).
The investment, which will enable the company to reach higher production speeds, will be conducted in two steps - first, the start-up of the Goss M-600 press this month, followed by the installation of the Goss Sunday 4000 press in October 2007.
Bruno Riouffreyt, production director at IGPM, said: "To stay competitive in our market and meet customer satisfaction, we were looking for a high-quality, high-speed press to automate our processes and increase production capacity.
The M-600 press was chosen for its high speed, excellent printing quality, versatility and its rapid make-ready capability, including the Autoplate plate changing system that will enable us to produce short-run jobs with address or language changes.
Additionally, the capacity and speed of the new press will enable us to replace two existing 16-page presses." The Goss M-600 press series, designed for a range of commercial and publication applications.
With a claimed speed of up to 55,000 impressions per hour, the M-600 C press at IGPM will include features for quality enhancement and control, such as an integrated densitometer, blanket washers and the complete range of Goss software.
The order also comprises two JF-55 jaw folders.
The new press will have a web width of 965mm and a cut-off of 625mm.
The president of IGPM, Pascale Noailly-Soulas, commented: "Goss presses are technology driven and known for their print quality, production stability and automated systems.
Our investment in new equipment was geared towards maintaining our position in the 16-page market.
By choosing two JF-55 folders, we can continue to offer technical services to our customers and products from four pages to 64 pages in magazine format.
We are confident that our investment will open up new opportunities for us in different markets." IGPM produces a range of commercial print jobs that include mailers, mail order catalogues, magazines and institutional reports.
For example, the company prints a free-daily commuter newspaper in 20 minutes.
Its customers include communication agencies, local government, large companies, wholesalers, publishers and territorial institutions.
Based in Saint-Etienne, in the Loire region of France, IGPM is a privately-owned commercial printing firm.
Founded in 1982, the company had a change of shareholders and management in 2000 and currently employs 83 staff.
It was awarded the Imprim Vert (green printing) label in 2004, for implementing industrial strategies on environmental protection.
IGPM plans to enhance its product mix with future investments in a second pre-press line and complete lines of finishing equipment.
