The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette has invested in a new shaftless Goss Uniliner tower addition for its existing Goss Headliner press in Lowell, Arkansas (USA).
The Lowell site is where the Northwest Edition of the state-wide paper is printed.
The new tower will help the publisher to meet the increasing demands for more colour pages, said Goss and its installation will be completed in the fourth quarter of this year.
The Uniliner tower has a range of features to ensure higher quality output, faster job turn-around and reduced make-ready waste, said Goss.
The tower features the GATF (Graphic Arts Technical Foundation) Intertech award winning Goss Digirail digital inking system, which provides high print quality, lower waste and consistency of production, claimed the company.
Jeff Jeffus, vice president and general manager of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Northwest Edition, said: "Readers will benefit from the new Uniliner tower through better registration of colour on the page and better colour replication in multiple sections.
The tower will provide an additional eight colour pages, or up to 16 mono pages to the Northwest Edition - something advertisers have been requesting for a while." Sam Pernice, regional sales manager for Goss International, added: "The Uniliner continues to solidify its position in the global market as both a stand-alone press system or tower addition, available in both 4x1 and 4x2 formats.
We are pleased that the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette has chosen to stay with a brand that has served it well for so many years." The existing Headliner press has been in operation in Lowell for 10 years and produces 360,000 copies of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette - Arkansas' largest daily newspaper - per week.
Including other titles, such as Northwest Arkansas Times, Benton County Daily Record and the Rogers edition of the Benton County Daily Record, the facility prints approximately 1,076,000 newspapers weekly.
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette began publishing a Northwest Arkansas business-interest section, Business Matters, in February 1996.
The Northwest Arkansas Edition of the paper began in July 1998.
